    The peace and scenery

We booked a late deal and the price was good, however we were given a double bed in a single bed room, with the furniture moved to cater. The telephone and radio behind one pillow not quite rtght|

I really enjoyed the size of the room, the view we had and the breakfast. The restaurant overlooks the bay and is wonderful. The hotel has a pool and bar tucked away at the top, which is lovely. We decided to go for a swim in the sea and were given towels on loan by reception. Also - shower was good!!

Its an old building so you can hear in your room people walking about upstairs! Also we were told we had a balcony (which we did), however it was a balcony area shared with other bedrooms. Not a complaint, but slightly misleading!

Most of the staff were very nice. Beautiful views. Good food

The rooms could do with updating although they are comfortable. The main areas look old fashioned but have stunning views. The restaurant food was good but was let down a bit by waitresses clearing other tables whilst we were still eating and using a cleaning spray and wiping plastic table cloths around our table.

Staff were helpful, and you could do diving straightaway! The island isn't that big so it is not bad access to the hotel, in fact, quite a relax place to stay. Good with the price you got.

Unfortunately it's not a modern hotel, and facilities don't seem to be up-to-date, though nearby seaside / beach, but it seem to be a solo area.

Particularly liked the location and the stunning views over the bay and the hotel is as close as you could possibly be to the sea. Quite isolated without a car but that is what we wanted. Taxis expensive but there is a two hourly bus service into town. The restaurant food was good value and again had stunning views out to sea.

Hotel lacking in investment to bring into the 21st century. Erratic service from hotel dining room staff. Lack of (visible) management around the hotel. For the price we paid (internet deal) we accepted minor issues as "you get what you pay for".

Beautiful peaceful location, pleasant friendly staff, access to the most beautiful part of the island through stunning rollercoaster cliff walks. Ambience very comfortable and relaxed. Only the hotel, dive centre and the attached "Black Dog" pub so not overcrowed or rowdy. Quiet evenings with a glass of wine watching the sea is possible. Excellent breakfast included. Restaurant range good for vegetarians, food generally tasty, well presented and imaginative. Apple compote with goats cheese - wonderful.

No newspapers for lazing on Sunday morning, poor range of beers and ales and too far to travel to visit other hostelries without using motorised transport. The island's own brew, " Liberation Ale " should have been stocked.

Top location overlooking the bay with diving and Booked.net facilities and cliff walks close by. Very spacious appartment with a great view of the bay and cliffs. Staff was friendly and correct. Breakfast, including the coffee, was of acceptable quality. Free wifi but only in the reception area. Swimming pool was located in a nice quite corner of the garden. Not very big but who needs it with the bay in front of the hotel.

Price/quality of diner in the restaurant was not so good so we only ate there once. Not that it was very disturbing but parts of the hotel could do with some renovations. The appartment had several damp-stains on the walls and ceiling and the interiour took us right back to the 70's (which is not a problem if one likes this style).

The location was absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast was excellent - and it was a joy to be eating while looking out over the sea.

The internet was a bit haphazard and it would be good to have it available in the rooms.

The hotel is in a quiet area just next to shingle beach and is ideal for a romantic retreat or a relaxing break. However, it is situated at the bottom of a steep hill and there were a few cyclists and walkers around., So can be ideal for hikers and bird watchers as there were many sea gulls with nests on the hills. There is also a diving area and lessons can be hired at the hotel along with Booked.nets. The meals were good and well presented. I would suggest to hire a car which we did in order to explore the island of Jersey as there is no entertainment or shops nearby.

There is nothing I didn't like - the remoteness appealed to me but maybe not everyone would like to be so far away from St. Helier

The Antipodean staff were very pleasant and most helpful. So were the French staff but their knowledge of English was extremely sparse, which made for some interesting breakfast orders! Usually the French speak so much better English than we do French, that I wondered if the recruitment process was a little rushed?

I had declared my wife to have mobility problems. The result -in a hotel which cannot have been better than half full- was a room on the 4th floor a considerable way from the lift. I'm well aware that I could have asked to move but "complaining " at the start of a holiday isnt automatically the best solution. Also I recall you billing this as a 4 star hotel. That is a false assessment of yours in my opinion. The AA badge says its 3 star and actually the decor is a bit tired and a Notice baldly declaring a halt to newspaper deliveries gave an impression of a hotel in gentle decline. I wonder whether it would achieve 3 stars if reassessed today.

the lady on reception was welcoming and very helpful and it was nice that she was able to speak english, so nice when you are checking in and it made things very easy, was also pleased that I could bring the dog into the room as we had a dog show the next day.

The dining room staff where not very attentative and we had to wait quite a while before anyone asked us for our order for a cooked breakfast. There were no serviettes or napkins available anywhere and there were none on the table, no one came to check if everything was ok or we needed anything.

It is what it is. It is a relatively inexpensive hotel and therefore has no frills. Rooms are basic and shabby but then it is only rated as a 3 star hotel and is not claiming to be anything else. Views when dining in restaurant are lovely.

The majority of staff are extremely nice and friendly. However in a shabby 3 star hotel which has little going for it except for reasonably priced rooms, it only takes one rude member of staff to ruin your trip. This member of staff was the receptionist over the weekend of our stay. I strongly suggest you read all the comments written by other guests rather than ignore them as we did

I liked the peacefulness of the area and the lovely hills and trees surrounding the hotel. Especially the unusually steep road with houses and trees .I also enjoyed the view from the dining area and the out door area with the swimming pool. Although an indoor swimming pool would have been better just because its too cold for young children, otherwise a heated outdoor pool would have been more enjoyable. The service and food was very good, more variety of menus for children would have been again prefered, a children's menu is always a hit for youngsters. People were very friendly and welcoming and helpful in informing us about different places to visit it jersey.

I did not like the single room which I was given it was not as nice as the double rooms, in the furniture quality. The lighting in the room was too bright as there were no bedside lights for reading for example.
